Words Alone

We see the world, feel it, experience phenomena and make noises in response. Words. Then there were marks to encode the noises. Then it began to get complicated.

Like so many other people I’ve written in little black notebooks for years. Ideas for artworks, shopping lists, measurements, and things that happened. When I revisit these pages I find myself suddenly dropped back into that moment then, not with perfect recall, but glimpsed through a waterfall of other phenomena. This deluge is not chaos but a peculiar collage, the way the mind works. Everything, all at once.
